Custom Orthotics at Tracy Chiropractic, P.A.
What Are Custom Orthotics?
Custom orthotics are full-length shoe inserts custom made exactly to your foot. They help provide a stable, balanced foundation for the rest of your body, particularly if you have flat feet or problems with your arches. At Tracy Chiropractic, P.A., we offer Foot Levelers custom orthotics.
Who Needs Custom Orthotics?
Custom orthotics help in a number of situations, from fallen arches to people suffering with knee injuries. When chiropractic patients with knee, hip or back pain don’t respond to care in the way Dr. Mark expects, he looks deeper into what may be contributing to the problem. Often he finds a problem in the feet. Since the feet support your entire body, if this foundation is not balanced, it can create a cascade of problems that affect the knees, hips and back.
Dr. Mark recommends custom orthotics to many of the high school athletes we treat, to help stabilize their knees as they move. Women’s physiology in particular creates additional strain on their knees because of the angle with their hips, and custom orthotics can help correct this situation.
If you suffer from flat feet, shin splints or Achilles sprains, custom orthotics can make a huge difference in supporting your feet, which support the rest of your body. Many of our patients who work in farming or construction get significant relief with orthotics.
The Process
If Dr. Mark recommends custom orthotics for you, we’ll schedule an appointment for that. You’ll stand with one foot at a time on the clear plexiglass surface of a specialized 3-D scanner, which will take a complete image of your foot in about one minute. Dr. Mark will give you a printout of it and explain the severity of your issue. The scan is sent to Foot Levelers, who will custom-make your orthotics to your exact foot specifications.
It takes about two weeks to receive your custom orthotics.
